Arri, nice to see you hear on the Window-Eyes list.
Almost certainly your best bet for an audio editing program if you don't
mind spending a modest $40.00 Canadian, or so, is Goldwave. Might not cover
'music making' but certainly professional standard editing.
As for learning W-E, obviously the manual and particularly the appendices.
The manual is accessed via the W-E control panel in the help menu. Remember
too, insert plus the top row number 1 key puts you into key describer mode
which may also be useful to a beginner.
We can only speculate as to why folks change, especially given the learning
curve and moving out of your comfort zone - especially for screen reader
users. . I'd say it comes down, in the US anyway, to relatively poor SF
support - so it is said, cost of JFW maintenance, and maybe stability
issues - ,but we must be careful here. this can come down to poorly set up
PCs and poor Windows installations and maintenance as much as anything else.
Worth bearing in mind too that GW to my knowledge is the only company that
gives you a defered payment scheme in acquiring Window-Eyes.
Cheers,
Ray.

Subject: Window-eyes newby questions
Hi all,
I'm going to get Window-eyes, I have been using a PC with JAWS for quite a
long time, but have heard very good things about WE and also the new
scripting capability, and the fact that the university where I study will
now just be upgrading WE, has made me decide to change. I have two
questions:
1. Is there an accessible music-making/producing program that I can use
with WE?
2. I'd like to hear about the experiences of other people who have changed
from JAWS to WE, why did you change and have you got any tips for making
the change less painful, I mean, I now must sit this holiday and learn how
to do everything in a different way from what I am used to, is there some
sort of guide or article for JAWS users who change?
Thanks guys
