I assume this continues the theme of "Shortcomings of Window-Eyes". A
cursory look at this latest site Don references reveals much not to like
about it technically. There are graphical links without alt attributes
for starters. There is an object on the home page, possibly poorly
implemented Flash. When I checked the home page with my favourite
validation tool, it identified 236 errors and 27 warnings.

Please don't use poorly coded web pages as examples of screen reader
shortcomings. Screen reader developers rely on valid code for best
results. When website developers don't follow standards, screen reader
access becomes problematical.

I can find any number of sites where one or other screen reader falls
over while another will do ok. Which one copes best on specific sites
depends on many variables.

Perhaps a word with the people who create poorly constructed sites would
be in order.

The above isn't to suggest that screen readers need to get smarter.
Dynamic web pages are a major challenge. But the site mentioned here is
simply not standards compliant. Seeking help to find workarounds is
appropriate, but blaming Window-Eyes for shortcomings on website
construction is not.

Subject: another problem web site to try please

OK go to www.jcpenney.com and hit enter on todays store ad. The next
screen again has a edit box to enter your zip code. Using WE 7.01 with
either IE 7 or Firefox 3 I can not get we to read the edit box for
entering the zip code.

If you can please provide step by step instructions.
