Let me help set the record straight here. I do work for verizon and
yes, verizon supports the use of either Window eyes or JAWS to be used
in the work place. As for working with the applications that you may
have to use, my suggestion is to use the screen reader that you're most
familiar with. Verizon works quite heavily in the MS office environment
and uses ie and Firefox as its web browsers. I've been using Window
eyes and have been a part of the beta test team at GW Micro for the past
16 years and haven't looked back on using any other product as my screen
reader.

Again, basically, it will come down to what you're most familiar with
using and how well you can work with your screen reading software when
you come upon situations that don't work immediately like you think they
should "out of the box". Hopefully, I will get a chance to meet you
when you do become an employee in Verizon and please feel free to become
a member of DIAL (Disabilities Issues Awareness Leaders) , a recognized
Verizon ERG (Employee Resource Group).

Hi guys. While this isn't a Win-Eyes question persay, maybe
someone (staff or otherwise) could shed some light on a possible
work-related issue.

From all accounts, I've heard that no screenreader works
particularly well with the Verizon software but, wouldn't you know it,
they're hiring now, so what to do? Mind you, all this was said before
7.01 in Win-Eyes was released and not to mention JFW 10. JFW aside for
a second, does anyone know (or has friends) who've tried to use the
software at Verizon, or for that mawtter, Verizon Wireless and how
compatible is the software with them, if anyone knows?

I say all this because, Thank God, I have a job coach willing
to let me use whatever screenreading device I'm most comfortable with
i.e., Window-Eyes. Whereas the state is trying to slam Jaws down your
throat at every job chance even if it takes weeks to write scripts, I'd
be interested in being able to go into a perspective interview with some
sense of how Window-Eyes would interact with the Verizon software. Does
anyone know?

As I said before, the topic might seem a bit weird on the
surface but oh baby does it come into play since, in this case,
knowledge of the capabilities of Win-Eyes in the Verizon environment is
everything! Thanks for any help provided.
        Jesse
