Hi everyone!
Well this is just my personal opinion but I've found these toolbars or
add-ins to be more of a pest than they're worth and I'll give you an
example. Some time ago I wrote to this list about a problem I was
having with WE 7.01, when I pressed enter on a link on a web page
which opened another I.E. window, I got an odd sound and I saw a "Pop-
Up Blocked" message ion the screen when I used the WE Mouse Pointer to
browse it and yet, if I routed the WE Mouse pointer to the link and
clicked on it the page loaded fine.
At first I thought WE and its scripts were playing funny buggers but
after uninstalling, and reinstalling and subsequently upgrading from
earlier versions I discovered that this wasn't the case, time to dig a
little further.
I really didn't have all that much to go on so just because I couldn't
think of anything else, I went into the "Manage Internet Explorer Add-
Ins" which can be found under the Internet Explorer tools menu and
started browsing around to see what was there. I found a lot of
things or rather tools that I'd never accessed and never knew I had
even installed, one of them was the Yahoo Toolbar so I disabled them
all and you know what? The problem went away.
Speaking to another WE user, he was of the opinion that as these
toolbars were written in Java anyway and as Java is mainly
inaccessible to WE then you're better off leaving them alone if you
can help it but some applications can and do install toolbars into
I.E. without your say so.
