Hello Dennis. I am not sure if anyone responded to you as yet. What I'd like to suggest is you checking out appendix a of the Window-Eyes manual which will talk about most of the hot keys you are asking about, and it will also describe the keyboard layouts. Below is the hot keys you requested though, and this should help you get started. Also, welcome to you as a new WE user.

The insert key is the same insert key on the laptop keyboard. Since each keyboard is different, this would be toward the top-right of your laptop, or it could be to the left of your arrow keys. All that being said, I personally recommend the default desktop layout, even on laptops. Then you can hold down the fn-key, while holding down the fn-key, you can use the letter m as the insert key. To bring up the system tray, just press windows-b. This is a Windows-shortcut which will focus the system tray from anywhere in Windows from XP on. If you want to use the window-Eyes system tray hot key, press insert-s. To get a list of links on a page, the hot key is insert-tab. the cool thing about this key is that it can also show you headings, tables, and form controls. Another nice thing about this hot key is that if you press it in another program such as Microsoft Word, it will bring up spelling errors, comments, ETC. So insert-tab is a powerful page navigation key. Checking the system time is done with insert-t. Lastly, after you save your voice settings, you need to press control-backslash to open the Window-Eyes control panel. Choose file, then choose save, and then choose set file and all dictionaries. This will make your voice and verbosity changes global. Note that changing things like punctuation, blank lines, or capitalization alerts are not global.

Hope this helps.

many thanks.
