Hi Dave,

ok, when I open a message in outlook express, it does not read it to me
either.

What I've found is that the message body is not the part of the outlook
express message that's got focus when I first open it up; so, I press
shift-tab and I find I'm suddenly in the message body; then, I can go to
the top (if that's necessary, I can't remember), and press the read-all
key of control-shift-r to read the message body, and that solves that
particular problem.

Yes, when I'm composing a message in either outlook express or outlook,
it's often not read. I find if I force it to be plain text it works
better for me, others I believe have said that they force it to change
to other formats and they find various other formats work best, but for
me it's plain text.

Even with plain text though, there are times when it acts like the
message body is blank or missing parts of the text (like just now as I
was typing this in outlook 2003 under xp), and so I maximize the window,
or redraw it with insert plus backslash, or switch away and switch back,
and one of those often fixes it.

I was talking about my outlook problems earlier, not outlook express, by
the way. in outlook, in case anyone else is having this issue, I find
the list of messages is often not read. If I press enter on what it
says is not there, it will open the message and read it fine, but when I
close the message I'm back to what it says is an empty list. anyone
else seen this in outlook, and if so, what version of outlook and what
operating system? for me it's outlook 2003 under vista. It actually
says something like "no selected item" as I arrow up and down the list.

thanks.

Chip
