One more thing to add to Raul's comments (which btw, I think he's
right): I've seen this issue happen when an ISP has a particularly slow
POP3 or SMTP server, or you have a particularly slow internet
connection.

If anything slows down outlook from receiving email when it first starts
up, you can get a "not responding" message because it's not handling the
main window, and then you can get the "synchronizing" message, as it's
going through the download and upload.

If you have an exchange server, and you've set outlook to used cached
exchange mode, this is particularly time consuming at startup as it has
to run through everything the exchange server has in your mailbox to see
if you have it locally, then the reverse, it runs through everything you
have locally to see if it's been loaded to the exchange server.

There are many good reasons to use the cached exchange server mode,
rather than the straight server mode, but this is unfortunately the
price if you're using it.

As for Raul's "bloated" comment, well, I just have to say I'd give up
anything at all before I'd give up Outlook; it's precisely because it's
"bloated" that it's so useful.

If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original

your message is related to GW Micro, then please consider sending
your message to [email protected] so the entire list will receive it.

All GW-Info messages are archived at http://www.gwmicro.com/gwinfo, and can be
searched through and sorted using the search
form at the bottom of the page.

If you wish to unsubscribe from this list, send a message to
