(smile) Jaber, MSN, and Miranda all have to do with instant messaging--the process by which people chat back and forth on the computer. Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Messenger are Microsoft's way of integrating e-mail, instant messaging, and who knows what else into a more or less centralized location. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and as a way of monitoring content on web sites such as podcasts, news headlines, and blogs. An RSS reader is the program that handles RSS feeds. All of these tools are free with the possible exception of Jaber and I really don't know much about that program. My explanation will most likely raise more questions than you had to start with. I would really suggest that you make extensive use of www.google.com and search for the terms you have listed below; that way you can read to your heart's content, download programs, etc. As for whether or not these programs will make your life more meaningful, that is a question only you can answer. If you try to wrap your mind around everything at once, you will run screaming from your computer and never try anything new. I would suggest picking one program such as Windows Live Messenger and playing with that for a while. You can expand your horizons from there.
