Hello. I believe there are add-ons for Thunderbird which will do what
you are asking. I don't believe that Thunderbird does this by default.

automatically save all attachments in a nominated folder?
I went to Tools, Options, Attachments and set Thunderbird to the second
option:
Save all attachments to this folder.
Then browsed until the the desired folder was located. This is correct
because the correct path is shown in the read only box.
However, Thunderbird does not automatically save the incoming
attachments in this folder. The attachment, if known about, can be
right clicked and manually saved. Unfortunately, it is not always
obvious that there is an attachment to the message.
There are some options shown beneath the setting of the folder path in
the attachment control tab but WE 7.01 is unable to read this very
well. Maybe this is where the problem lies.
It is something to do with setting up file type extensions to be
automatically saved or opened.
Has anybody managed to have Thunderbird save attachements automatically
to a nominated folder similar to that of Eudora? If so, could you give
me some pointers.
I have tried looking in the help section for a solution but drawn a
blank so far.
