I installed the we4java and decided to give it a try on open office. I was able to navigate all of the menus, which I've never been able to do before. I was able to get into the options for open office and once in there have to use the mouse keys but I clicked on accessibility features. I clicked on an option about friendly with screen readers. Open office displayed a message about installing a java access bridge. So I found that online and installed it.

I've got to say while the way things are working, its not perfect yet but I can see open office becoming very usable with a little scripting and configuration. That is beyond my ability but it looks very possible.
