Janelle, many keyboards have a mute button at the top row, make sure you are
not accidently pressin it by mistake.

I appreciate the private responses I have received regarding this matter.
Unfortunately, sometimes the machine mutes itself i.e. mute becomes
checked. I thought this utility could be an easy way to uncheck
it as at these times my volume levels are still set appropriately. It is
just tedious to uncheck mute without sighted assistance.
All of my sources indicate that my drivers are working and up to date but
I will keep checking.
