Most likely, there's an ad on the page that doesn't load successfully. Many times, these ads are embedded frames that act like other web pages. When they don't load successfully, that portion of the page gives a 404 error, while the rest of the page loads as expected.

Beginning this past week, I've started getting the message "Internet
explorer cannot display the webpage" at the top of the screen when I go to
some web pages. In particular, this happens with Amazon.com, but it's not
restricted to that webpage. Yet, the web page comes up fine; I'm able to
navigate and do what I need to do. What's going on? What's causing this
messsage?
Thanks.
