If WE can't be changed to fit the particular text, what about
changing the text to fit what WE can do? Just do a global replace
changing all strings of period space to period space space. You
might then want to do another replace to change all strings of
period three spaces (in case there are any) to period two
spaces. Now all periods should be followed by two spaces, which is
good for the WE capabilities but problematic for sentences
containing words like Mr. or Dr. Once you learn which words you're
likely to encounter that cause such problems, you could do one more
global replace for each such word to convert, for example, Dr. two
spaces to Dr. one space. You're then ready to edit by sentence. If
you want the final document to have only one space between
sentences, then at the appropriate time you can do one final global
replace to convert all strings of period two spaces to period one
space. If this sounds cumbersome, then automate the process by
putting the first group of global replaces into a macro and run the
macro before editing.
