No the standard book scence comes with one gb of internal storage and then supports sd cards as add ons. So in other words if you only had a 300 mb book you could put it on the book scence and take it with you. If you have a 4 gb book you can put it on your sdhc memory card and take it with you. The book scence xt will have 4 gb of internal storage and then support the sd hc card as well. This is how I understood it.
