Jed, have you tried another browser? I once downloaded a software
package, and when I tried to run it to install it, I got a message
similar to the one you mentioned. I tried three times to get a good
copy of the application before succeeding with another browser. I can't
recall if the successful download came as a result of using Internet
Explorer or Firefox, but I believe it was the latter. To me, it makes
no sense that one browser should succeed in a download where another
fails, but it'll only cost you a few minutes to try the experiment.

Hey guys,
Alright, I figured if any of you guys have seen this perhaps it might be
helpful.
Now, I've never had this happen before. I use an instant messaging program
called miranda IM.
They have a download of it on their web sight. However when I download it,
it gives me the nasty dong sound and says it is not a valid archive.
Here's the funny thing, 2 of my friends sent me the exact same file, and it
worked with no problem.
This makes no logical sense at all, and to top it all off this is the only
sight I am having trouble with downloads from.
Can anyone make sense of it?
I'll download the file from the sight, go to unzipit, and it tell me, no
good, not a valid archive. 2 of my friends who also have the program have
sent me versions, and it works.
In fact, there was just a new version of it released, and I had to email my
friend to send it cause once again the version from the sight is no good.
Thoughts?
Keep in mind, my friend is not having a problem with the version from the
sight.
Is there something that could be happening when I select save as that I'm
not aware of?
Thanks,
Jed
