Hi Casey,

well, recently I've read an article which says the computer security
experts are starting to look at Adobe reader as a security problem,
because it allows programs to run on your pc, called adobe reader
plug-ins, which can be used to spread malware, and which go undetected
because they're assumed to be a part of adobe reader and/or part of a
pdf.

it's not clear how much of a threat this really is, and how much it may
become now that the idea is being widely talked about, but you can avoid
adobe plug-ins and probably make things easier for you, but using a
utility to convert pdf files to some other format such as text files.

the utility I have in mind is a free one from Jamal Mazrui, named
pdf2txt, which can be downloaded from empowermentzone.com, and which is
designed for easy use by screen reader users.

unless you've got an unusual situation, such as a copy protected pdf, or
one where you must fill out a form or click on hyperlinks contained
within it, why not try this to convert it to a text file.

hth,

Chip
