I applaud the discipline and restraint required to develop a solid
release rather than give in to the clamoring. Frankly, it is my belief
that 7.0 hit the streets before it was ready to sprint. I am quite
content to wait until the kinks have been shaken out to GW's satisfaction.

Re: wineyes upgrade]
Seeing as how this is the last day in April, and we didn't release
7.1 today, it's a safe bet that it will not be released in April.
<grin>
This is, by the way, again, for the bazillionth time, the reason why
we hate to give any kind of specific time frame for releases. We
release when Window-Eyes is ready for release, and not when a
deadline approaches. That will always remain the case, no matter how
much flack we get for it.
But, since I know that's never enough for folk, here's the official
response:
We are still working hard on 7.1, and are very close to getting to
the point where we can freeze what we're doing, and get a release
out. Due to some things we were forced to do for 64-bit support, some
significant, under-the-hood changes in Window-Eyes were done for all
bits of all operating systems that really put performance and
stability to the test.
But we are in the final stages of cleaning all that up. Our private
beta testers have been doing a good job of finding all the little
things that were left over due to the core changes we made, and we've
certainly been doing our share of in house QA. Once we tie up all
those loose ends, Window-Eyes 7.1 will boast the rock solid stability
you guys have come to know and love under all 32-bit and 64-bit
operating systems.
There have also been several major scripting enhancements, Braille
modifications, bug fixes, and more. You are really going to get a lot
of bang for your free buck when 7.1 finally ships. But making sure
all of this works like we advertise takes time. As I mentioned
before, we will only release 7.1 when 7.1 is ready for release.
So when will that be? Well, not April. It could be next week, it
could be in two months. Most likely, it will be in the next couple to
few weeks, again barring any major setbacks.
