First, have you added any extensions to Firefox? I ran into this issue when
I installed the Meebo extension. Every time Meebo refreshed, whatever tab I
was on would also refresh. I eventually stopped using the extension. It's
still installed but I don't allow it to log in automatically. It wasn't
very accessible anyway. You might try disabling extensions or running in
safe mode to see if the behavior stops. It also could have been the Meebo
page rather than the extension, so if you have a page that is always open it
could be triggering the behavior. Maybe the refresh blocking add-on
previously suggested would help with this. However keep in mind this might
cause you some problems with order processing on some commerce sites.
Blocking refreshes from WE can also cause this, though the problem seems
much less prevalent than it once was, probably because of changing web
technology.

The issues with browse mode refusing to stay off is something I have also
encountered, and it doesn't seem to be consistent. I have also seen it in
IE, but only on one site that I have to use at work. It takes two strikes.
In that case I believe it has to do with scripting on the page that reloads
information every time you change focus from field to field. In some cases
this is a necessary evil because otherwise you will not get the information
that changed as a result of your entry if the page doesn't reload. However,
because you state that IE isn't doing the same thing on the same pages, I
don’t think that's the problem.

The reload while typing in edit boxes appears to be triggered on pages such
as Facebook where the edit box will automatically expand if you type more
than will fit in it. This makes the browser reformat the screen, resulting
in a reload. Once this starts happening it won't stop, because each time
the line wraps you get a refresh. The solution I have found is to turn off
Auto Load. This is Insert-A by default. When you're done typing you can
turn it back on.

Subject: fire fox keeps refreshing

Howdy,

I am using fire fox v3.09 something and wineyes 7.01 and no matter
what I have done, fire fox will still refresh right in the middle of
doing some on a web site and I have the verbosity miscellaneous
refresh rotter set to suspend all. Also, when I smack enter on an
edit box, the page will reload immediately, and sometimes it takes
two or three smacks of enter to force msaa to stay off, and then
while typing in the edit box, it might come back on.

Any ideas on how to stop this annoying behavior?
If I use ie7 to go to the same pages and perform the same activity,
it don't do this.

Thanks much, lou
