Hello Robin,
The commands to adjust speech settings on the fly were changed in
Window-Eyes 5.0. Instead of Insert-Left, Right, etc, use
Control-Alt-Left, Right, etc. These can, naturally, be changed in the
Window-Eyes hotkey dialog if you prefer the older assignments.
I haven't used Window-Eyes 6.1 for a very long time now, so I don't
think I am qualified to offer up an objective comparison between its
performance and speed to that of 7.01. Imho, the responsiveness of 7, at
least, is very good even on my older computers. WE 7 also has a lot of
bug fixes from 6.1 and provides a scripting facility which allows you to
extend Window-Eyes in just about any way you can imagine. See the Script
Central website at www.gwmicro.com/sc to peruse the over 130 scripts you
can install.
Regards,
Steve

Hi all,
I'm a lurker on this list usually because what you all can do
in WE is far beyond my skills. Having said that, I have 2 questions I
think you can help me with.
1. I'm using WE 6.1 on my PC at work. Recently I noticed that my
on-the-fly ability to change voice, pitch, speed, isn't working when I
do Numpad Insert and the four arrow keys. I'm using default layout on
a standard keyboard, even though my PC is a Dell laptop. It's working
correctly on my home desktop (running WE 4.5), so I don't think it's
user error and I think I could do it on my work PC at one time, but I
can't be sure of that. Any thoughts on something I may have hit to
disable this function?
2. As noted above, I'm running 6.1 at work and 4.5 at home. I need
to upgrade my home PC, but that would put me in version 7. I already
have trouble keeping all the keyboard commands straight in my head, so
I"m a little concerned about running 7 at home and 6.1 at work. For
those of you who are beginning to intermediate users, how different is
7 from the feel of 6.1? (IN case you are wondering, I don't feel
it's a good time to ask about upgrading the software at work; we are
so budget conscious here right now and 6.1 meets my needs at work just
fine.)
