Hello. You might want to check out this list's archives and see what you
can find as many messages regarding Thunderbird are sent.
To answer your question though, you can go into the options menu with
alt-t, then o. Under the main or general tab, check the box which
displays your inbox when Thunderbird starts. Another thing I suggest is
that you turn off the preview pane as this can sometimes cause confusion
when messages are opened automagically. I believe the f8 key toggles
this, but you can just do it from the view menu with alt-v.
