Mike, what happened to your version of AVG is a testament to the collective power of Window-eyes users. Several WE customers simultaneously hoping and perhaps praying for a good outcome have successfully influenced your anti-virus software to behave in the proper manner. The GW folks don't talk about this phenomenon in the Window-Eyes manual because it is not yet scientifically proven. Take my word for it, though.

having said this, I will grudgingly admit that there have been times when my AVG software has required a computer restart to complete the installation of a new version.

Good morning Craig, Natalie, Nick, John, Robert, and all other fellow Window-eyes users: Well, I got a big surprise, when I booted up Windows xp pro this morning. I was atempting to open AVG, and empty the virus vault. But before I could hit enter on the icon, I found that somehow, the name of the icon had changed. Instead of AVG Free 8.0, I saw AVG Free 8.5. The thing is, I hadn't even downloaded and installed the upgrade yet. When I went to the virus vault, I found, that it was empty. How could this be? The last thingI remember doing yesterday, was responding to a message I had gotten from AVG, stating that I was to restart my computer. It didn't explain why, it just said, "AVG restart computer request." I did the restart, and when I opened internet explorer, I got another message, that said, that my AVG toolbar was successfully updated. It didn't say anything about upgrading to version 8.5. Have any of you ever experienced anything like that? It appears to me, that AVG may have upgraded all by itself without me having to do anything. I'm wondering, if that restart request I got yesterday had anything to do with it. So I guess what I'm asking now, is as a result of this mysterious turn of events, is it safe for me to go on and use my pc like normal?
