Hi Jean,

well, first, window eyes should not think that you are in outlook when
you are in Word. I'd suggest you get on the phone to their phone
support folks, and let them figure out why that is happening to you. it
may be that the word set file is not installed for some reason, they can
talk you through checking on that. if that problem were corrected, you
would not have that particular conflict with alt-2.

One place where what I said may be wrong is in outlook 2007, which uses
word as it's default message editor. in that case maybe it looks to
window eyes like you're still in outlook; anyway, tell the support folks
if what you're doing is using outlook 2007, and they can tell you what
to do.

to answer your question in broader terms though: yes, you can change any
of the window eyes command keystrokes, and then save the set file that
you just changed, so that it has your new definition for the command.
you can do without a command altogether if you don't need it and there
is a conflict. in this particular case, it looks like alt-2 is assigned
to read user defined window #14, which must be defined to be the date
field. you could go and edit the hotkeys used for user windows, and set
that particular one to be something else or make it "undefined" (as I
said, if this were really the right set file for the application).

As for punctuation, again you'd first want to be sure the correct set
file was loading for your application, then from the application you'd
press control backslash to bring up the window eyes control panel, and
it would have the set file for the application you were in already
loaded. you'd press alt-s for the screen menu, and go down until you
found the punctuation submenu, press right arrow to open that up, and
you have 4 categories of punctuation; as you arrow down through them
they tell you how they are currently set, and you can press enter on any
of them to change whether they're on or off.

when you're done making your changes, before leaving the control panel,
you would need to choose file, and then save, and choose the "set file"
as the item to be saved, so you don't lose your changes.

hth,

Chip
