I have used CoolEdit and Audition 1.0 and 1.5 quite a bit. With Audition 2.0
and 3.0, some aspects of the interface have become more difficult to use. As
was
mentioned, there are scripts for Audition 3.0, but how well it works for you
depends very much upon what features you are going to use. It is worth to take
the time
to try demos of both Audition and Sound Forge to see which meets your needs the
best. I am not saying that Sound Forge is necessarily better, only that it is
worth
trying both programs to see which works best for you. You will definitely need
scripts to make any headway with Audition, because there is text on the screens
that
screen readers seem not to be able to pick up except by talking directly to
Audition through scripts. This can work well, though. I and others who are
not using
screen readers find audition to be a little sluggish, more than in earlier
versions, especially before version 2. I like some of Audition's features,
though, such as being
able to mark up a single file in to tracks for a CD. . I need to experiment
more with Audition 3 and the scripts, though, something I have started to do
but have not
pursued as I should have by now..
