Hi, Well for a gps I use wayfinder access on my n82 which is far cheaper and still works so even then there's an alternative. Now for mp3 players there's the ipod nano's which again are cheaper than the vr stream, I have a stream and think it's really good so am not knocking the device by the way, although if I had weighted I would have got the nano and not bothered with the stream.
Yes there are at the moment some things where mainstream isn't going to work but where it does people should be more realistic in terms of how much the mainstream alternative costs over the access version, because mainstream will always be cheaper and I'm definitely 1 who advicates saving money where possible. -----Original Message----- From: Chip Orange [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 04 June 2009 14:38 To: [email protected] Subject: RE: The Voice Sense is it worth it? Mostly I agree with this; but I think we should remember a few exceptions such as the Victor Reader Stream, or the Trekker, or the I.D. Mate barcode reader. all of these items just do things so well for a blind person, that mainstream equivalents just can't compete.
