You will have to purchase the pop service of Hotmail for it to work. Then you can enter in the pop3 and smtp settings for it. If you read www.gwmicro.com/kb1100, you will see what those settings are.

Many thanks.

Hi all,
Well I just downloaded THunderbird, but it also doesn't seem to be what
I'm looking for as far as Email, either that or I'm just missing
something. I say this because as I said before I use a Hotmail account
and, again unless I'm just missing something, Thunderbird doesn't appear
to have an option for that. I hit Create Account and type in my name and
Email, then I hit Next. The problem starts then. It asks me to select
the server type, both incoming and outgoing. The only two options are
IMAP and POP3. I'm wondering what, if anything, I should do about this.
Does Thunderbird support Hotmail? And if so how do I configure it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go.
