Hi Kevin,

oh there are many ways of permanently disabling it; I was looking for a
keystroke which allowed the next person who logged in to again have the
touchpad be active.  or, if they took the laptop right from me, to
enable it themselves.  

An external mouse could work, but with a laptop you seldom have one
handy.
