Hi. If you don't want to hear the app starting messages or the other useful mouse pointer shape change notifications which tell you if your computer is busy or when it's ready, you can read kb1066 at www.gwmicro.com/kb1066 for instructions on turning them off.

I'm not sure why you can't save local settings if your global settings are saved. When you are in Word and you control-backslash to Window-Eyes, does it show the correct set file?

Many thanks.

Okay. Chip. I went in to active profile and did one change in it that I can
do. But, now I can't remember how to stop window-eyes from saying, app
starting or arrow. I've ehad other emails from people saying they're having
problems set files holding. I wish they would send them to the entire list.
As soon as I made the change my set file settings didn't hold. That's why it's
now saying app starting and arrow. I hate it!!!

Heck if I know! I know I'm on a network. But I don't know a thing about
profiles.

Sandra,

Are you logging onto and off of a network? if so, do you know if your network has
"roaming profiles" enabled?

If the answer to both is yes, then that can easily explain the loss of saved .set files.
networks sometimes will over-write newer files, stored in your user profile as .set files
are, with slightly older ones, if they have "roaming profiles" enabled. this
happens especially when you turn the pc off or otherwise don't complete the logoff
process (say you're forced to reboot).

this problem has nothing to do with window eyes, if it applies to you, but
happens to all applications which use the user profile for storing their files.

please let us know the answers to these questions.

thanks.

Chip

Hi all. I might be beating a dead horse. But I wish gw micro would
go back to save global settings instead of saving set files. I hate those.
I don't think they always hold. Besides, most of the time, I want my
settings saved globally. It's a pain to go into each program and do that!! For
example, I turn the enter key on. I even saved the stupid set file, This
was in ms-word. As soon as I logged off my computer and logged back on, it
was off. Drives me crazy!
