I thank you for the hopes and suggestions. The sales man is very hopeful that
we can make it work. His programmer was on vacation last week so we have to
wait for him to return. I did have the sales man send AAron a screen shot of
one of the problem areas. I called GW and Mike said that would be a start to
solving the problem but Aaron was out training so would probably not have time
to investigate until he returned.

So there may still be hope. I do know that the screen will read with the mouse
but is having trouble with reading the information with the arrow keys. So
maybe, hopefully, it will have a work around. I don't know maybe user windows
or hyper windows or maybe it might take scripts but.... Maybe????
If you all are interested in my progress I will keep you posted. I think the
sales guy will try his best to do what ever he can because a sale of $20,000.00
and maintenance contracts rides on the fact that if I can't use it we will not
buy it. Not such a big deal in the total scheme of things but a sale none the
less.
So keep your fingers crossed for me. Maybe we can all benefit. It's worth a
try!
Shannon

All of the screen reader vendors have expressed interest and, in the case of
GW Micro, even contacted developers of the most prominent financial packages.
Without fail, the response has been that the visually handicapped market is too
small to acknowledge, and companies like Intuit have gone about their merry way
without a further thought to the matter.

I have examined Quicken, and to make it automatically speak pertinent
information will be a huge undertaking. Without any real incentive, financial
or otherwise, scripters may not adapt this and similar such programs. Would
anyone here pay money for a developer to write the necessary scripts? Or at the
very least, would a copy of one of these packages be provided with no expense
to whomever took on such a project? If the answer is "yes" to either of these,
then somebody may very well step up to work on the programs. Until then,
contact the program authors, and express your needs completely, concisely, and
most importantly, politely. If the programs can be redesigned to make scripts
or other adaptations unnecessary, then everybody wins.

  Best regards,
  Steve

Shannon, good luck on that one! I'd be wide awake whenever any of the
major screen readers give a serious thought to MAKING AN ACCOUNT PACKAGE
