To my knowledge, the CONTROL NUMPAD 5 key is meant to read the line containing
the cursor and should not be dependent upon the mouse, even if it is on the
numeric pad. What kind of control are you working within? I have seen custom
controls that have a cursor but where multiple columns of text are present and
Window-Eyes reads across all columns. Are you saying that you get different
results when you use UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW?

There is some extra logic build into the CONTROL NUMPAD 5 or CENTER key to
automatically read the selected menu item and such. If you don't need it, you
could try turning Highlight Track on the General menu off in case that
Window-Eyes is getting confused by highlighting. Otherwise, what application
is this occurring
in, maybe someone here has had some experience with that particular software.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
