Have you turned the reading pane off?  If not, then press alt-V and arrow
down intill it says reading pane.  Hit enter here and either press o or
arrow down until it says off and hit enter.  Your reading pane will then be
shut off.  If this is on, you won't get all of the information.

 

Hope this helps.  I'm using Outlook 2007 and have no problems with this.
