I used to use something called I2Workout to actually create commands to
feed my treadmill regarding speed, incline, etc.

The software was really extremely accessible, but I don't believe the
individual supports it any longer.

You need a treadmill that supports the IFit technology.  I also used to
transfer those commands to an MP3 player or CD unit and feed them to the
treadmill that way; it works really quite well.
