Don The question I ask you is "why not install it." You will, most likely, need it at some point sooner or later. If you don't install it, one day you will come to some list saying that this or that will not play or work. Folks will make educated guesses at that point perhaps hitting or missing as to the cause. Installing things like this never hurts so why not do it. It may well save you some aggravation or frustration down the road.
