It sounds like you are using the laptop layout. This explains why
alt-home says top-left and insert-b for bypass doesn't work. However
this does not explain why f5 doesn't refresh the page so this is a
separate issue. If you want to use alt-home and pass it to the computer,
press alt-shift-p which is the bypass hot key while using the laptop
layout. Then you can press alt-home for your home page. Or better yet,
get familiar with the fn-key of your laptop and switch to the desktop
layout which uses the default hot keys.
Many thanks.

Hey guys,
f5 doesn't seem to refresh a web page in vista on a laptop, any ideas?
Also, trying to go back to my home page with alt home, but all it keeps
saying is top left.
Any thoughts? Someone said to use insert B, but even that doesn't work. If
i recall, insert B should be bipass.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks,
Jed
