Yes indeed, this subject always does bring on fierce suppporters of one screen
reader or another, a bit like football supporters!

Still, I think Chrissie Cochrane and the team rought off a fair and balanced
discussion on the programme. Issues of affordabbility and help, and support,
the questions of large corporate operators vs. smaller enterprises was touched
on and I think that's crucial in any propper discussion of this subject.

This isn't the ideal forum for extending such discussion, but nor would a JFW,
Dolphin or say, Humanware list be either. Trouble is that more general lists
too are infected by politicos of one pursuasion or another ranging from folks
who want everything for free to those who think the "market" is always right
and seem to see high pricing as not simply unquestionable but as some sort of
statement of corporate and sometimes individual, virility.

We all know you pays your money... etc etc.

Hi all.

Why is it that this debate keeps coming up?

I know that there is always the healthy "delete" key which saves me endless
grief every time this debate comes up on the list.

The fact is that we all use screen readers. We either like the ones we have
or we don't. Because this is a Gw Micro operated list, why should we use its
facilities to plug alternative products, or to say one is better than the
other?

Subject: Re: Healthy Debate: JAWS Versus Window-Eyes

Hi Tyler:
As much as I like Window-eyes better than any other screen reader that I have
tried, I have come to realize that there are a lot of people that would
strongly disagree with that point of view.
