She could also press Alt-= (Equals) followed by enter to insert the Sum
function.
This should be done in the first blank cell beneath the column of figures.

highlight the colomb we wanted to add, then go up and click on the icon
that
represents sum. I find it easier to type in the formula myself. You

Jennifer what kind of formula are you trying to do? If you are adding
a
columb you would write it like this =sum(a1:g1) or =sum(a1:a22).
