Hi Ed,

sorry to say, I had the same problem, using a Dell laptop and vista 32. I
too had to give up the very useful script.

I think it may be a while before this issue is tackled, so I'm slowly trying
to work out the finger yoga needed to use the fn key, plus another key which
together map to insert, then plus the window eyes keys, to make my commands.

this is the solution suggested by Raul, and for laptops, I do believe that
unless you're able to use a full-size keyboard, it's the best you can do.

Subject: Script for converting Capslock into Insert

Hello all:
Being able to use the Caps lock key as an alternative insert key is a
convenient utility, particularly when one needs to use a laptop keyboard,
though it is useful at other times when the insert plus a key on the right
side of the keyboard is the designated hotkey, e.g., in reading tables.
That was one feature of JAWS I appreciated.
The script to replace the Caps lock key, therefore, is a good idea in
theory.
Using it on either my IBM Thinkpad T-43 or T-60 (using Windows XP), however,
produces an undesirable side-effect, or at least appears to do so.
I've had numerous instances in which the keyboard became confused. For
example the control key or the alt key appeared to be "stuck," and there was
no way to release them -- not even so I could get to the control panel in
Window-Eyes and turn off scripting.
It has happened often enough with both machines that I've now turned off
that script. The problem went away.
Perhaps this is unique to Thinkpads. Thought I'd check.
