Firstly, I apologise to any who were inconvenienced by any out of office
messages they got from my account while I was on leave.

In mitigation, I had taken every effort to prevent these messages from
going to the list.
In the Out of Office tool used on the Exchange server here we can set up
additional filters to prevent such things. I had carefully set up
filters, using the same e-mail header data which I use for my standard
filters to prevent them being sent. As I had seen none on the list I had
no reason to assume that anything other than they had been stopped was
happening.

I would like to assure those who think otherwise, that it is not a
matter of discourtesy or laziness that these messages came out. In fact
it took a good deal of time and trouble to work out how to do it; even
if unsuccessfully.

I will review those filters again before my next vacation and hope to be
a little more successful.
Yes, I do know that I could unsubscribe from this list while away, but
then, if I have missed a message there will be complaints about me not
reviewing earlier messages before asking questions on a topic already
covered in the previous weeks.

Regards, John.
