I think I saw one other post similar to this one. I'm up and talking now, but it was silent for a long time. I downloaded WE 7.11. With WE running, I went to Windows Explorer and started the executable for the installation. All seemed to go well. I clicked on "restart" the computer. I should note that I told WE to install the keyboard drivers for Braille devices even though I don't have one. Upon restart, WE came up talking (I have run before start-up checked), but that was the last thing I heard. Thinking I had encountered an error on start-up, I hit enter. After about an hour, I restarted. Again, up to the point of typing in the password, all went well, but after an hour or so, I went to bed.
After 3 hours I got up again (I'm rather nocturnal). Still nothing.
I hit Enter again and checked messages on my iPhone.
I thought I heard the hard drive running, but my T-43 think pad has a very silent hard drive. Finally, I pressed the hot key for starting Window-Eyes. I briefly heard the message, Window-Eyes installing, though the word "installing" appeared to be cut off. After about a minute, Window-Eyes started talking fine. So, if, after restarting your computer following an install of WE 7.11, it is probably a good idea to start WE manually, even if you previously had WE starting automatically.
BTW,
When I checked the start-up options, "never" was checked. I've changed that now. We'll see what happens after I restart the computer.
