Both my work and home PCs run Windows XP Pro SP3 with most fixes and the latest
version of Window-Eyes, WE 7.11 currently.

I had noticed for a long time that my home PC was much more stable in terms of
loss of speech issues than my work PC.

The major differences between the 2 are hardware, home is a quad processor with
4GB RAM and work is a duo processor with 1GB RAM.

AT work I generally run MS Outlook, Lotus notes, with several sessions running,
and IE, with 2 sessions running. There will be other odd things going on as
well.

We recently upgraded to MS Office 7 at work, which I already had at home.

There were a number of oddities going on. If I was using MS Word and then went
back to Outlook I had lost the list of e-mails. I needed to stop and start
Window-eyes to get my list back.

I also had problems with Lotus Notes, where some lines would not be spoken or
show on the Braille display at times.

I have recently managed to persuade people here to install an additional 1GB of
Ram into my PC.

Guess what, The loss of speech seems to have been eliminated and the various
oddities seem to have gone as well.

I do not like to suggest this, but does Window-Eyes handle paging to the hard
disc from memory correctly?

In any case, the cost of memory is so small currently that folks may easily
find a simple remedy is to install additional memory. Here in the UK 1GB for my
PC at work is £14.

I hope this is of help.

Regards, John.
