Hi everyone,
I know this is not the appropriate list for asking this question, but
there's nobody else to whom I can ask.
I have a friend, who is using System Access to go. She went to
www.satogo.com, and went through the necessary steps to download and
install the software. To start System Access on an average day, she'd
go to the start menu, go to the run dialog, type in www.satogo.com,
press enter, and the program would just launch and begin speaking to
her automatically. Lately though, the voice has mysteriously stopped
talking. Now everytime she atempts to start System Access, she gets a
message on the screen telling her that System Access is already
running, but yet there's no voice, and nor she or any of her sighted
family members can find any icon indecating that the software is even
present. Does anyone have any idea as to what she can do to fix this?
Fortunately, Nikita has just enough sight to read what's on the
computer screen with the help of a magnafire, but she prefers to have
both screen and voice output. Purchasing a screen reader program is out
of the question for her right now, so I suggested that she try System
Access to go, because not only is it free, but at least with that, she
can use her home computer with some sort of screen reader, until she
can aford to get Jaws or something. She's using an ordenary desktop
computer, running windows vista. I'd like to be able to help her out,
but I'm not a System Access user, and I can't answer technical
questions.I've checked the (talk-serotek) mailing list for answers, but
it appears that that mailing list is down. There's noone talking on
that list. So, if anyone has any solutions as to how I can help her,
you can email me off list. Thanks in advance.
