What are some key differences between vista and windows 7? Why should a person consider upgrading?
From: Don H [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 4:23 PM To: gwmicro Subject: Win 7 upgrade I just updated my HP desktop from Vista to Windows 7 using their upgrade DVD that was free since I purchased the computer in August. After uninstalling all programs that I thought might be incompatible and as instructed Window Eyes itself. There may be a way to do it but I had the help of my sighted wife to help with some screen selections and to enter the key code for the upgrade disk. After the upgrade was complete I installed WE 7.1 and then the 7.11 update. Well it turns out that WE came up speaking in a very weird way by first speaking the first word then the rest of what was to be read at a very low volume as if it was in the background. My Sound Blaster card drivers got messed up during the upgrade process but was simple to fix by reinstalling the sound card drivers. WE seems to work well with Windows 7 although I have had one WE crash which required a reboot. An error message was generated and sent to GW. I also notice that having WE start at start up doesn't start talking for nearly a minute after a boot up of the system. This may not be a WE problem since other things like NOD32 are also starting during the time. So overall I am quite happy with the Win 7 upgrade procedure and the performance of WE with Windows 7.
