First, to switch the synthesizer in WE, do the following: 1. Go to the WE controlpanel, by pressing CTRL-Backspace. 2. Press Alt-F, and in the File menu, scroll down to Speech Synthesizer. 4. Choose your preference, and press OK. You will now hear another voice speaking.
Please beware, that several synthesizers have different voices included. For instance, Eloquence which is the default voice in WE, will have a good handful of voices to choose from. In the Synthesizer screen, you will first choose the synthesizer to be used, and by pressing Tab, you will get the chance of choosing the particular voice you want. Also, be cautious! There is a long list of synthesizers, listed in WE. But - unless you own the necessary hard/software, you will not be able to use these. If, therefore, you happen to select a synthesizer that is not pressent on your system, WE will end up with no speech at all. This is really a drawback of WE, which I think the GW staff could have done something about. The only two synthesizers that are available by default, in WE, is the DecTalk, and Eloquence. In addition, you might likely have at least one SAPI voice installed with your MS Windows. So, Dectalk, Eloquence, and SAPI, will be the ones you need concentrate on. To your second question: Yes, you can switch voices more easily. The easiest way, is to download the Voice Rotor script, from GW's Script Central homepage. If you need more info, let me know. ----- Original Message ----- From: Kimsan Song To: window eyes Sent: Saturday, January 09, 2010 4:42 AM Subject: selecting a different synthisizer Ok, I just installed my 7.11 version of WE. My question is can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to swich synthisizers? Also, is it true that people can swich synths on the fly? If so how do I do this? Please keep in mind, I am a beginner at using WE. If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
