Before knocking a product it is important to assess its merits. Personally I find nothing wrong with the Windows Firewall. Although Microsoft is often targeted in order to find security vulnerabilities the built-in firewall does a pretty good job and it is difficult to crack. As far as the ability to block out going traffic, I don't find this to be an issue. Other software firewalls prompt people for a lot of applications and most of them send some data through various UDP ports. Since all of us are using licensed software this is no major concern. In addition any malware program that sends data someone just might find useful will most likely send it through port 80 or the ports for incoming and outgoing E-mail. They will be clever enough to bypass many software firewalls anyway. And when using these firewalls, it is important to be careful on which UDP ports you decide to block. some applications may not run correctly if you prevent them from using a blocked port. These are just my personal opinions based on my experiences. No need to debate this issue, accept keep in mind that Windows Firewall works very nicely with WE and this is appreciated when setting up exceptions for various tasks such as home networking. Vic
