Well, that was indeed a very interesting exercise.  I've been using the
backspace in place of the Alt-Left arrow for so long that I'd altogether
forgotten about that one.  I opened IE8, got into the "Goto" pulldown, and found
both the Alt-left and _right arrow options disabled.  But I couldn't find any
way to enable them, either.  For that matter, I didn't find any option
specifying the backspace as your go-back key, either.  So, if they're there, why
can't you change them?  How do you enable them?

I'm using ie8 with we 7.11 on an xp pro machine. Pressing alt+left arrow doesn't
move me back a page.
