Raul,

I am having no luck at all.
I went so far as to re-define the up and down arrows to do nothing at all. They are both undefined and they still speek and are repeating themselves. I set the window the mouse as the highlight window in the mouse menue. I also set track focus to on, but I think that is a problem in itself because if I press the route mouse to curser or Focus it is going down to the edit box not the highlighted bar. I also found a problem in the manual. In appendix a Alt numpad center says that it is the route mouse to highlight but it is the mouse read hot key. That hot key combination is miss labled in the manual. Infact the route mouse to highlight is undefined. I defined the specify highlight hot key to ctrl, windows key, H and set the highlight color. I also set the Route mouse highlight to insert W but WE just makes a bong sound. Why is this happening? How come I can't get the mouse to recognize the highlighted line on the screen. Again I am maximizing the look up window. It takes up the entire screen. The screen is maximized when I set the highlight window. I am useing "auto sizer", to make sure that this window always is maximized but it doesn't work. I don't know exactly how to use "auto sizer" The window is listed in the take action on list but it won't do it. . I have to do it manualy but still it is maximized when I am doing all of the above steps.

Got any other ideas?? Do I have something set up wrong???
Thanks Shannon

hello Shannon. Perhaps now is a good time to try the cursor keys, or route muse to focus, and read current mouse line and see what it does.

Correction
When arrowing down WE is now saying the one it left before the new

Now what could be causing that to happen?
On the way down the list I have to ignore the first thing I hear and
listen for the second thing I hear. But on the way up I have to pay
attention to the first thing I hear. Really strange.

Ok,
found a different set file in the list that at least miss behaves as
before. It was AHD003. I used that one and then did a save as and
renamed and confirmed the association. Fewwwww Thank goodness I got it
back!!! Now back to trying to get it to stop repeating itself.
This one says the one it left and then the one it is now on. in either
direction up or down.

Oh Good Greef,
Raul,
Now I have done it! I thought maybe I should look to see if another
set file would work and or behave better, so I said while in the look
up box to open a different set file. Now I can't find the one I was
using and can't even get it to miss behave now. Figures I broke it!!
Now it won't even attempt to read anything when the highlight bar
moves up or down. Grrrrrr
Back to the beginning.

Raul,
I hope I can answer this question.
This program is installed on this machine but can be accessed by
others in the office through our Novel Network. Each of the other
computers that can access this program has an icon on their desk
tops that open this program but all the information stored in this
program is saved to this computers hard drive.
Does this give you any idea as to your question. I don't know the
vocabulary you used.

Hello Shannon. Is this list box inside a regular Windows program,
or is it via a terminal program such as using telnet or ssh to
reach a remote server.

many thanks.

Well I thought that was going to work but my mouse will not track.
I made sure to set the "SET highlight hot key". I made sure to set
the
highlight color. I set the mouse to track highlight. I set the window
under the mouse as the highlight window. (Which I have the entire
look
up screen maximized.) I set the up arrow to first action to
execute hot
key and set it to route to highlight, and second action to execute
hot
key and second info to speak mouse current line.
My mouse will not move up or down with the highlight bar.And WE is
still
speaking where it came from before it says where it landed.

Another totally goofy thing is that Setting the up and down arrows to absolutely nothing does nothing. WE is still speaking the same stuff.
Why won't my mouse track this highlight bar?
I can move the mouse to a line and press the speak line and it is
correct. When I click with the mouse on the entry the highlight moves
but we is announcing the place the highlight came from before
saying the
item I just highlighted with the mouse.
What is going on?

Yep, and that was going to be my next suggestion. You can
undefine the
up and down arrow from the cursoring menu. Remember that cursor keys
still are seen by the application even if WE does not do anything
with
them. Next from the mouse menu set track focus to on and now as you
press up or down, just press mouse read line with is numpad 5. Now
that I think as I type, for the up and down arrow, you could have
the
action be execute hot key and have the hot key it executes be read
mouse line.

Many thanks.

Well that was worth a try, smile.
Changing the up arrow with the curser menue to anything else
like next
line or highlight resulted in WE saying the one it landed on
then the
one it came from then repeating the one it landed on. Lots of
stuff to
ignore to get what you want. Shrug I even tried to set the
second entry
to highlight and or line and it just kept repeating itself. It
said the
one it landed on, then the one it came from the one it landed on
and
again the one it landed on.
I have even played with the delay factor and still no luck.

Is there a way to shut them up all together and some how have
the mouse
follow the highlighted bar? the mouse dosn't repeat itself.

Yep, I got another idea, but this would only work while you are in
this list box. Window-Eyes has a cursoring dialog box which you
can
define what cursor keys do when you press them. The key itself ist
sill passed to the application, but Window-Eyes also performs an
action. So for example, normally, when you press up arrow, the
line is
read, when you press down arrow, the line is read. You could
hack it
by changing the behavior of what happens when you press up or down
arrow. You may need to play with these, but perhaps you can
have up
and down arrow read "Line next". You do this by going into the
cursoring dialog box and finding the down arrow and the up arrow
entries. In each, change the action to "line next". Press enter
and
give it a try and see if it works. Remember though, this will only
work while you are in this list box. If you go to other areas
of the
program, you will most likely want the arrows reading line as
they do
by default.

Good luck.

Raul,
Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. I even went so far
as to
up it to 99 and WE is still repeating the item it was
previously on.
If moving down it is speeking the one I just left before
speeking the
one the Highlight is on and if moving up WE is saying the one
it had
been on before saying what the highlight bar is on now.
Got another idea?
Thanks for the help

Hi. You can try setting your cursor delay to something higher
than 1
which is the default. perhaps 5 or 10 and see if that makes a
difference. This is found under the general menu of WE.

Hello,
I hope I can explain this correctly. Here goes.
I have a field in our accounting package where you are to
enter the
vendor number. If you don't know it you can press F2 and a look
up box
appears.
The curser is in a box at the bottom of the screen where you
can
start
typing the number of the vender and as you do the choices
that start
with that are the only ones shown. Or if you tab once you
are in
a box
where you can start typing the name or a part of the name of
the
vender
and the matching items are shown. In both cases You can use the
arrow
keys to arrow up and down through the list. Here is the
problem;
WE is repeating the item it was on last before announcing the
current
line that is highlighted for selection.
I tried to use the vertulizer window and route the mouse to
that
item
and again it is either one above the one I wanted or below
the one I
wanted.
I tried to use the Navigator script too. (excuse me if I
named that
wrong.)
I can get WE to travel up and down the list with the insert
arrow
keys
but again what WE is saying Is not the one it is really on.
I can use the mouse to go up and down the list but turning
on and
off
the number key pad is a pain because I have to do it often. I
need the
numpad allot, after all this is an accounting program. Smile
Does anyone have any suggestions to help me solve this problem?
This is WE 7.11 XP3
Color scheme high contrast black.
All suggestions are welcome!
Thanks
Shannon
