Greetings to the list.
We have all encountered Windows controls that can be seen on the screen
but not detected by screen readers, but what about the other way around?
When I use Internet Explorer 8 and Window-Eyes 7.11 to place an order on
Coffeewiz
www.coffeewiz.com
I can hear a combo box inviting the user to select a shipping
preference. However, I cannot activate the button to make the
selection. A sighted family member tells me the box is simply not
visible at this point in the ordering process. Interestingly enough, I
cannot detect the box with Window-Eyes and Firefox 3.6. Could it be
that the box and its corresponding button that Window-Eyes is speaking
represent code that was once used but is now suppressed yet which is
still somehow being displayed to Window-Eyes? I could give you the URL,
but one needs a Coffeewiz account to view the screen in question.
Thank you for all help.
Craig
