well in your case something rather odd was going on. tested this out here on a number of systems as is explained in the kb article on windows 7 32 a user can install 7.0 and then update to 7.11 with no problems. if one does not have at least 7.1 on windows 7 64 bit they will need to order a new cd as of right now that version is 7.11. I am typing this message using windows 7 32 starter on this system I installed 7.0 and then updated to 7.11. so I assure you in most cases it works fine. hth
