I have tried PartitonMagic version 8, with succes. Also Achronus has been OK
accessible, and even Paragon seem to be useful. Do you happen to know,
which software has been used to partition your drive from before? Might be
most sucessful, to stick to that one, if possible.
There is available demo versions from at least Achronus, and I do believe
from Paragon as well. Noot sure if they will let you perform the actual
partitioning in the demo version, but at least, they let you go through all
the neccessary steps. So, it is worth to download and run the demos, to
decide for yourself if the software is worth the money. Think all the three
above mentioned softwares are about 50-60 US dollars, so be prepared a dug
in your bank account :)
Also, it is in place, to remind, that playing around with the partition, be
pretty sure what you are foing. Even if the software is pretty reliable, it
is powerful enough to crash your system totally, and you loose your work. If
possible, backup your stuff before playing. After adjusting the partition,
your system will need to be restarted. When doing, it takes quite a while.
Depending on the job to be performed, your system and so forth, it might
take upto several minutes. During this time, DO NOT touch your system's
on/off or reset button, or get frustrated in any way. Simply leave the
system running, and doing its job. Interrupting this process, you are sure
to loose EVERYTHING on your system. Time for lunch break!:)
Hope this is of help!
