I am using SoundBlaster x5streme audio. Sorry if it is not spelled correctly, I can't find it written anywhere. I typically use DecTalk Access for WE. My computer is less than two months old and all of the drivers were updated since I got the computer. Before this system, I used TripleTalk USB, but so far, they do not have an accessible 64-bit version.

what speech device are you using. have you tried switching to another one. have you checked to see if your sound card drivers are up to date. just a few things to check for.

Subject: speech issues

I have several problems with speech not working correctly. I am using Windows 7 with WE, all current, and have 7.2 beta installed. All of the problems were here before the beta, so that is not the problem.

First, I have speech to stop with pressing of any key. Often, it only works with the control key or arrow keys. Sometimes, the tab key works and sometimes, it does not. Usually, pressing letter keys or the enter key does not work. An example would be when I want to type in something in the control shift f find box. Typing does not quiet until I press control. Even after pressing enter, Speech continues reading even after my search was found.

Tabbing through options is another place where speech is not silenced. No matter what is being spoken, it continues reading until it is finished before it will announce the information at the next tab. This happens in any kind of dialog box or edit field where I need to tab from option to option. I would appreciate any help with making my computer less vocal, if you know what I mean. I would like it to speak when needed, but stop when it is asked to do so or when it is supposed to do so. Thanks for any help.

Carol
