You probably don't want to use profiles to manage this issue. as you've
seen, one of the things you'd have to duplicate, and keep up to date, are
scripts, as each profile has it's own set of scripts.

One thing you should realize is that if you leave windoweyes setup to use
your default sound card (whatever that is, I mean don't change windoweyes
from it's default settings), then you can use your internal sound card,
until the time you turn on your headset and link it up. you should then use
windows control panel, sounds choice, and set your headset as the system
default sound device.

this way, whenever your headset is operating, windows will use it as the
default device, and windoweyes will use it because it's using whatever
windows is using.

then, should the batteries run down or you simply turn off the headset,
windows will fallback to whatever it was using before (when the default
isn't available, this is what windows does). the next time you turn your
headset back on and get it linked up with windows, windows and so windoweyes
will automatically switch to it.

this is how I manage my bluetooth headset, and for the most part it works
fine.

you need to pause and have things be quiet when you turn the headset on or
off; if you don't, say it's in the middle of a sentence when you turn off
the headset, windoweyes will sometimes crash as the sound device it was
using is suddenly unavailable in the middle of a word.

except for this, it usually works pretty well, just to set the headset as
the windows default sound device, and let everything else just stay set to
the default windows device.

hth,

Chip

Subject: Profile switching script

Hi List,

I just got a Plantronics wireless headset so I can sit in a more comfortable
location while working on the computer but am having some issues.

Since I am on the computer a lot I am concerned about losing track of the
battery life of the headset and losing speech. I have two profiles set up,
one using the sound card and another using the headset. I installed the
script for profile switching via
control+alt+the number corresponding to that particular profile and
am having problems. To start off, I didn't realize that the script used this
combination and had control+alt+1 applied to start up DVD Audio Extractor.
In order to straighten things out, I had to uninstall the script, reassign
the application to another key combination and then reinstall. But now,
control+alt+2 switches me to the headset profile, but then no other key
combination works. I am stuck in headset mode until manually going into the
menus to switch the old fashioned way, and on top of that the script
vanishes from my list of scripts. I had to reinstall it in order to
uninstall it.

Is there a way to fix this, or another script that will allow me to switch
profiles with a single key combination. Frankly, if there were a way to do
it, I would like to have Window Eyes and all of the Windows sounds come out
of both the speakers and the headset at the same time so I don't have to
mess with switching anything, but since I can't get that to work I will
settle for getting Window Eyes only from the headset as long as I can figure
out a way to switch back and forth without having to go into a bunch of
menus.

Thanks,

Chris
